The McHenry County Conservation District is hosting a candlelight night hike from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Coral Woods Conservation Area, 7400 Somerset, Marengo.
During these free hikes, discover the beauty of a crisp, winter evening via woodland trails lit only by candlelight. Hot chocolate and snacks around the campfire will be provided. No pets, please.
In the event of inclement weather, check the front page of MCCDistrict.org for latest trail conditions or like MCCD on Facebook for event updates.
An additional candlelight hike/cross-country ski outing is scheduled for Feb. 7 and Feb. 8 at Rush Creek, Harvard.
Visitors may ski or hike every night until 9 p.m. on solar lit trails at Pleasant Valley Conservation Area in Woodstock, on a half-mile loop through the prairie, and at Hickory Grove Highlands in Cary, on a 3/4-mile looped trail through the wooded savanna. Sites open late during the Daylight Savings time change. After March 8, sites close at sunset.
