Some road closures are expected around the historic Woodstock Square as Jeep will be filming a TV commercial there this weekend.

Jane Howie, executive assistant to the city manager and the mayor of Woodstock, said some roads might be closed, while others might just have limited access.

According to a notice from O Positive Films posted on the Woodstock Police Department’s Facebook page, the following streets will be posted as a “No Parking/Tow Zone” from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday: Both sides of Cass Street from Throop Street to Benton Street; both sides of Johnson Street from Cass Street to Van Buren Street; the east side of Main Street from Cass heading north for 200 feet; the east side of Benton Street from Judd Street to Jackson Street; and both sides of Van Buren Street from Johnson Street to Judd Street.

There also will be “very intermittent street closures” that take place only while crews are filming, according to the notice. These will be along Johnson Street from Cass Street to Calhoun Street, Cass Street from Main Street to Benton Street, and Benton Street from Jackson to Judd Street.

Traffic control will be coordinated by the Woodstock police.

A spokeswoman for FCA US LLC, said the brand does not comment on the details of on-going video productions – its own, or that of outside partners – that may feature any of its Jeep vehicles. She didn’t disclose whether the commercial would air locally or nationally, and whether a new vehicle model or feature will be highlighted in the commercial.

“We always welcome film crews and visitors into the city,” Howie said. “We’re excited they chose Woodstock.”

Although people should avoid parking on the historic Woodstock Square on Saturday, Howie said they still can be on the square and visiting the shops and restaurants around it.

“There are a lot of public lots around the square that would be much easier for people to park,” Howie said.
