Let the salivation begin: The second annual McHenry County Restaurant Week is almost here.

Nearly a dozen restaurants – plus a hand-crafted, loose-leaf tea house, craft distillery and breweries and custard shop – will feature special menus, discounts, samplers, flights and brand-new, flavorful flourishes created just for those who visit Feb. 21 through March 1, said Jaki Berggren, executive director of Visit McHenry County.

Kristine Austin, Visit McHenry County sales and marketing manager, said the event resonated well with audiences in its first year. This year will feature even more to love.

“Restaurant Week really allows chefs of locally owned eateries to show off their creativity, while owners can make special appeals to new and existing customers,” Austin said. “It’s a great way for people to get their foodie on and enjoy some of the many truly great dining experiences to be found right here in McHenry County.”

Already on board this year are places located throughout the county, including Richmond BratHaus; Rush Creek Distilling in Harvard; Offsides Sports Bar and Grill and Casting Whimsy, both in Woodstock; Café 31 North in McHenry; Cucina Rustica in Cary; Brunch Cafes in Huntley, Fox River Grove and McHenry; Julie Ann’s Frozen Custard, Duke’s Alehouse and Kitchen and Crystal Lake Brewing in Crystal Lake; Cullom Knoll in McCullom Lake; and Scorched Earth Brewing in Algonquin.

Menu items will run the gamut from Jack Daniel’s-marinated chicken at Offsides to Cucina Rustica’s prix fixe menu offering one of multiple entrées, pasta and appetizer choices plus soup or salad. BratHaus will feature sausage sampler platters for two or four plus German bier flights. Duke’s will offer a prix fixe menu with choice of appetizer and entrée, with crème brulee dessert. Cullom Knoll’s prix fixe offering will include one of three featured entrees, appetizers and desserts, plus a soda, beer, wine or cocktail.

Detailed menus, pricing and special offers are posted at visitmchenry.com/restaurantweek. Visit McHenry County, which promotes local tourism, started McHenry County Restaurant Week in 2019. Participating restaurants select from a variety of promotional packages.
