Algonquin Police announces Super Bowl weekend enforcement results

Crackdown made streets safer, police say

The Algonquin Police Department today announced they issued 11 speeding citations during the recent Super Bowl enforcement campaign and cited six others for other traffic violations.

“Because of these efforts to crack down on impaired drivers and ensure more people buckle up, the streets were safer over Super Bowl weekend,” Sergeant Robert Salazar said. “Keeping impaired drivers off the roads saves lives.”

The Super Bowl weekend “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” enforcement effort ran from Friday, Jan. 31 through the early morning hours of Monday, Feb. 3.

The recent law enforcement campaign was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
