Letter: Woodstock's Plastic bag tax leads to lost sales, jobs

To the Editor:

Well, congratulations Woodstock on all the jobs you just flushed down the drain.

The numbers are in, and they do not lie: The "bag tax" has hit all the major retailers in town right in the cash drawer. I work at one such organization, and track our sales daily.

We have gone from averaging third in our district to dead last. I have spoken with working men and women at the other retailers affected by the "Ooooh, look at us care!" charade, and they all agree, people have no problem going 10 minutes east to McHenry, or 11 minutes southwest to Crystal Lake to do their shopping.

Everyone in my department has had their hours cut – no sales means no payroll. Good job, Mayor Brian Sager, way to go.
