Here's a look at the Huntley vs. Libertyville dual at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the IHSA Class 3A Glenbrook North Dual Team Sectional.
(Note: Dual lineups can and often do change. This matchup is not guaranteed.)
At 160 pounds, Huntley’s Rukkus Hunkins and Libertyville’s Josh Knudten squared off in the “blood round” at the Class 3A Barrington Individual Sectional. Knudten won the match, 1-0, and advanced to state. Hunkins’ individual season came to an end short of Champaign. Hunkins likely is itching for a rematch.
Huntley coach B.J. Bertelsman on the possibility of returning to dual team state: “Getting to state as a team is not something you can do every year, so you’ve got to take advantage when you can.”
DUAL TEAM HISTORY
Huntley is trying to qualify for dual team state for the second time. The Red Raiders finished fourth at state in Class 3A in 20118. Libertyville has reached dual team state seven times and brought home a fourth-place trophy in Class AA in 2008. The Wildcats have not qualified since 2014.
