Here's a look at the Huntley vs. Barrington dual in the IHSA Class 3A state quarterfinals at 9 a.m. Saturday in Bloomington.
(Note: Dual lineups can and often do change. This matchup is not guaranteed.)
Is this even debatable? If neither wrestler bumps up a class, there could be a rematch of the state championship bout between Huntley’s David Ferrante and Barrington’s Luke Rasmussen. Rasmussen won a 4-3 sectional semifinal a week earlier. Ferrante exacted revenge with an 8-2 win in the state title match in Champaign. It was Rasmussen’s first loss of the year.
For some, like Huntley sophomore Jake Jensen, dual team state will be a new experience. “I’ve never been down there,” said Jensen, a two-time individual state qualifier. “I’m excited to go down there and get another week of wrestling.”
DUAL TEAM HISTORY
Huntley qualified for dual team state once before, taking fourth in Class 3A in 2018. The Red Raiders had never won a regional prior to 2017, but have now won four consecutive. … Barrington has qualified for dual team state five times previously, taking home two trophies. It finished fourth in Class 3A in 2010 and 2012. Barrington is competing in the quarterfinals for the third consecutive season.
