President and CEO of the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce Phillip Fritsche announced Wednesday he is resigning.
The resignation will be effective immediately. Jackie Ruiz of the Crystal Lake Chamber will be the interim President and CEO. Fritsche started the role in December.
Ruiz was set to retire at the end of March but has agreed to stay on board until mid-May while the chamber searches for the next president and CEO, Ruiz Matthew Horist, board chairman said.
“As board chair, I can understand the disappointment many of our members must have at our inability to find a long term solution at the position. I can assure you the staff, the board, myself, and many of our great chamber leaders will be hard at work correcting this situation,” Horist said.
Horist added that the government and the U.S. Small Business Administration are working on plans to help many Americans and small businesses amid closures during the COVID-19 outbreak.
“If your business has been impacted by COVID-19, I encourage you to watch for any news on this topic and reach out to your lending institution over the next several days for more information,” he said.
The Illinois Restaurant Association has extended the due date for payments with no interest or penalties added to July 15 for both small businesses and individuals, Horitz said. The State of Illinois has not yet followed.
