The McHenry County Health Department now is reporting 27 confirmed cases of COVID-19, it said Wednesday afternoon.
Lindsey Salvatelli, spokesperson for the department, said in an email the department did not have additional information regarding the condition of the individuals.
As of Tuesday, there has been 25 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in McHenry County. On Monday, there were 14.
Susan Karras, director of public health nursing, previously said she expects the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to increase as the virus continues to spread.
The department announced on Tuesday that a Crystal Lake man in his 70s who tested positive for COVID-19 died. It is not yet clear whether the official cause of death was from COVID-19. A phone message and emails to the McHenry County Coroner were not returned Wednesday afternoon.
