McHenry County confirms 35 COVID-19 cases, 70-year-old Crystal Lake man first confirmed death

The McHenry County Health Department confirmed Thursday that the 70-year-old Crystal Lake man who recently died is the first confirmed COVID-19 death in McHenry County.

As of Thursday, there are 35 identified cases confirmed of COVID-19 in McHenry County, according to the McHenry County Health Department.

When previously reported, the department said the man had tested positive for COVID-19 but it was not yet confirmed that it was his cause of death.

Lindsey Salvatelli, spokesperson for the McHenry County Health Department, said the man died on Saturday. His identity was not released by the coroner’s office on Thursday.
