Teens find body in Wauconda field while gathering firewood

Body found in unincorporated Wauconda off West Old Rand Road

Three local teens were gathering firewood in a field off the 25200 block of West Old Rand Road in unincorporated Wauconda when they stumbled upon what appeared to be a body, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

About 4 p.m. Friday, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched in response to a call about a possible body.

Upon arriving, the deputies were led to an open area of the field where the body was found.

According to the release, the body was in the advanced stages of decomposition. The age and gender of the person have yet to be determined.

There were no obvious signs of foul play, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office said it will schedule an autopsy and will work with Lake County Sheriff’s detectives to investigate the death further.
