McHenry County announces 2 additional COVID-19 deaths, 37 new cases

Two more McHenry County residents have died as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the McHenry County Department of Public Health reported Thursday.

There were an additional 37 cases of county residents infected with COVID-19, according to Thursday’s MCDH statistics. There now have been 68 county residents who have died from COVID-19 and 1,304 who have been infected.

The latest deaths reported by the MCDH were a woman in her 70s and man in his 80s.

As of Thursday, 22.2% of cases (289) and 77.9% of deaths (53) in McHenry County have been associated with long-term care facilities, according to the MCDH. The county has a 17% positivity rate, with 7,666 people tested.

By ages, the 50-59-year-old group has the most cases with 272, followed by 40-49 (219), 60-69 (188), 20-29 (164), 30-39 (164), 70-79 (96), 80-89 (77), 10-19 (57), 90-99 (47), 0-9 (19) and 99 and older (1).

By ages, the 80-89-year-old group has the most deaths with 22, followed by 70-79 (18), 90-99 (11), 60-69 (10), 50-59 (5), 40-49 (1) and 99 and older (1).

Among local ZIP codes, Woodstock (60098) has the highest number of cases in McHenry County with 252.

Chicago has had 39,755 cases with 1,814 deaths.
