Letter: State's Attorney Kenneally is wrong

To The Editor:

McHenry County State's Attorney Patrick Kenneally's recent brief in support of State Rep. John Cabello's federal lawsuit challenging Gov. J.B. Pritzker's stay-at-home order is a disappointing ideological attempt to sow the seeds of confusion in a unified response to address the COVID pandemic.

As the Governor has stated at numerous COVID updates, he has proceeded only after thorough legal consultations and acted within the scope of actions afforded him under the Emergency Management Act and the Public Health Act.

In the face of a deadly pandemic, the demand to be free of the mutual obligation to fight the pandemic is in essence the demand to be free to die and to threaten those around you with illness and death. Make no mistake, State's Attorney Kenneally's Freedom of the Grave position is a threat to all the freedoms we enjoy as Americans.
