Michael Seyller, 46, of the 5500 block of Chantilly Trail, entered a blind guilty plea to a felony charge of aggravated domestic battery. The offense typically is punishable by three to seven years in prison.
Since prosecutors did not agree to a pre-negotiated sentence, a hearing on the matter is set to take place at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 21. McHenry County Judge Robert Wilbrandt is expected to issue a sentence at that time.
If Seyller were sentenced to prison, he would be required to serve at least 85% of the term, in accordance with Illinois Truth in Sentencing guidelines, prosecutors said.
The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office did agree to dismiss additional charges including violating bond, domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence. Prosecutors also dismissed another 2019 domestic battery case against Seyller, in which he was accused of firing a gun during an unrelated domestic situation.
Seyller remained free on bond Wednesday.
