On Monday, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Woodstock Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a 2006 Mitsubishi Raider that had crashed on Charles Road, east of Timberline Trail.

An investigation found that the Mitsubishi had been traveling east on Charles Road when it tried to overtake several vehicles by passing in the westbound lane of traffic.

For unknown reasons, the Mitsubishi left the roadway to the north, the sheriff’s office said, where it struck a utility pole.

React Helicopter flew the 15-year-old passenger to Children’s Wisconsin – Milwaukee Hospital. The 17-year-old driver was taken to Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital, she later was released in good condition.

It is not known at this time if the driver and passenger were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. No airbags were deployed, the sheriff’s office said.

According to the sheriff’s office, drug and alcohol use is not suspected.
