McHenry County reports 29 new cases, no additional deaths

McHenry County has 29 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, the McHenry County Department of Public Health said Tuesday. The county did not see any additional deaths Tuesday.

McHenry County now has seen 2,045 confirmed case of the virus since the pandemic began. The county has reported 97 total deaths and two probable COVID-19-related deaths.

There were 14 new cases and one new death – a man in his 90s – reported in McHenry County between Sunday and Monday.

Of the cases in the county, 403 or 19.7% are associated with outbreaks in long-term care facilities. Of the county's 97 deaths, 74 or 76.3% are associated with long-term care facilities, according to MCDH data.

MCDH continues to report a 93% recovery rate from COVID-19. Recovered patients are people diagnosed with COVID-19 who were reported to be alive more than 42 days after testing positive. According to the MCDH, asymptomatic cases are excluded from the calculation of the county’s recovery rate.

By age groups, those residents between 50-59 have the highest number of people infected with 374 cases, followed by 40-49 (336), 20-29 (304), 30-39 (290), 60-69 (257), 70-79 (148), 10-19 (125), 80-89 (103), 90-99 (66), 0-9 (40) and 99 and older (2).

Residents between 80-89 have the highest number of COVID-19-related deaths with 29, followed by 70-79 (28), 90-99 (16), 60-69 (14), 50-59 (8), 40-49 (1) and 99 and over (1).

Among McHenry County ZIP codes, Woodstock (60098) has reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 344, followed by Crystal Lake (60014) with 311.

All other ZIP codes have reported five or fewer cases.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, Lake County has seen 9,719 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began and 416 deaths. The Kane County Health Department is reporting 7,750 confirmed cases and 269 deaths, as of Tuesday.
