A River Grove man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a 2014 residential burglary to a Lake in the Hills home.
William Bobiek, 47, accepted a plea deal on Friday from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office and pleaded guilty to to a Class X felony residential burglary charge. According to court records, the situation occurred on Oct. 4, 2014, in the 100 block of Crystal Lake Road, Lake in the Hills.
Residential burglary typically is classified as a Class 1 felony, which carries a shorter sentencing range. Based on Bobiek's prior felony convictions, however, he faced an elevated six to 30 years in prison. McHenry County Judge Robert Wilbrandt accepted the plea and issued the sentence last week.
