Country Donuts in Crystal Lake will reopen Thursday after having temporarily closed Tuesday upon learning an employee tested positive for COVID-19. After announcing the closure on Facebook, Country Donuts posted a picture of the owner on Wednesday “personally cleaning and disinfecting every surface of the shop.”
The business, located at 181 W. Virginia St., will open at 5 a.m. Thursday, according to a post on the shop’s Facebook page. Working staff will only include those who had no contact with the employee who tested positive for COVID-19, according to the post.
The business did not respond to the Northwest Herald’s questions seeking more details about the situation.
“Please be patient as lines and wait times may be longer due to reduced staff,” the company wrote on their Facebook page. “We are taking extreme caution to make sure that this will be an isolated incident. Thank you to all of our loyal customers who have shown us support since we first announced.”
Since learning that one of their employees tested positive, Country Donuts has been in communication with the health department and “actively developing a plan to ensure the safest course of action,” the company said in the Facebook post.
The business closed its lobby to the public on March 17 in light of COVID-19 concerns, but continues to offer drive-thru and curbside pickup services, according to a separate post.
