A Fox River Grove library trustee was elected president of a regional library network’s governing board, the network announced Tuesday.
The Reaching Across Illinois Libraries System, created in 2011 by Illinois law, supports the state’s interlibrary loan program, supports more than 600 libraries’ shared online catalogs and provides continuing education for library staff and trustees.
The network, commonly called RAILS, is governed by a board, elected from member libraries.
Fox River Grove Memorial Library Trustee Michael Campbell was recently elected the board’s chairman and president. Also on the committee are Vice President Thomas Stagg, a trustee with Alpha Park Public Library; secretary Sarah McHone-Chase, a department head with Northern Illinois University’s libraries; and treasurer Dianne Hollister, a librarian with Bradley University.
Campbell is the president and CEO of Advancing Global EDU, Inc., a marketing and sales consulting agency focused on education, based in Fox River Grove, according to a news release. Campbell has worked with small to mid-sized firms in the educational service and technology sector since 2012. He was appointed to Fox River Grove Memorial Library Board of Trustees in 2014; he was elected to the position in April 2015.
Campbell is a member of several company advisory boards, includingEdWeb.net and SparkPath, and serves on the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois’ executive committee, according to the release.
“Our board provides guidance as we provide much needed services to communities large and small, students, and businesses who have invested in research libraries,” RAILS Executive Director Deirdre Brennan said in the release. “Michael brings his experience and passion for both public libraries and school and university libraries to our board. His voice will be appreciated during his tenure as president of the Board.”
