High school sports roundup for Thursday, Sept. 10

Crystal Lake Central’s Eric Klutke shot a 39 to lead the Tigers past Huntley, 163-180, in their Fox Valley Conference boys golf match at Pinecrest in Huntley.

Kevin Craig (40), Christian Wakeford (41) and Bayden Hubacher (43) were the other counting scores for Central.

Danny Sheedy and Trevor Book each shot a 44 to top the Red Raiders. Andrew Toman had a 45, and Cole Modrich added a 47.

McHenry 177, Cary-Grove 196: At McHenry Country Club, Ethan Jensen shot a 40 to lead the Warriors past the Trojans in their FVC match.

Will Currie added a 44, Sam Huff had a 46, and Max Bogenski and Ketcher Fenton both had 47s for McHenry.

Dylan Turner and Eric Pietrzyk each shot a 48 to lead C-G. Tom Fornelli added a 49, and Ryan Weaver had a 51.

Woodstock North co-op 182, Johnsburg 215: At Bull Valley in Woodstock, Brady Heeren and Luke Trewyn shot 45s to lead the Thunder past the Skyhawks in their Kishwaukee River Conference dual match.

Aidan Sivore and Sam Berry each shot 46s for North, which is 6-0.

Crystal Lake South 158, Dundee-Crown 179: At Bonnie Dundee in Carpentersville, Ricky Falbo and Nate Stewart both carded 38s to lead the Gators to the FVC dual win over the Chargers.

Will Stewart shot a 40 and Spencer Shireman chipped in a 42 for South.

Yash Dulla and Vince Bono both had 43s to lead D-C. Jake Russell had a 46 and Chris Przybylak added a 47.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Dundee-Crown 15, McHenry 50: At McHenry’s West Campus, the Chargers’ Conner Mogge was first and his teammates took the next six spots behind him in their FVC dual meet victory.

Mogge won in 17:23, followed by D-C’s Anthony Fernandez, Alex Petinaux, Cristian Rodriguez, Christian Azar, Tyler Toms and Kevin Miller.

McHenry’s Nick Schmitz took eighth for McHenry’s top spot. The Warriors expect a few of their top runners to return next week.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Dundee-Crown 23, McHenry 36: At McHenry’s West Campus, the Warriors’ Alyssa Moore won a varsity race for the first time in McHenry’s FVC loss.

Moore won in 21:02, 34 seconds ahead of D-C’s Kaylee Brodie in second place. Melina Garcia and Norah Petinaux took third and fourth.

McHenry’s Mackenzie Sloan was fifth.
