To the Editor:
July 4th, although, a beautiful, meaningful holiday, can be difficult between the noise and air pollution. It frightens some animals and people with asthma have a especially bad time. Not to mention possible damage to property. All because of illegal fireworks.
But I wonder...
Did anyone else in McHenry on July 5th wake up to having to straighten artwork on their walls? And hosing or sweeping down their sidewalks, patios and decks gross from ash debris (so the dogs wouldn't get sooty)? Oh, and change kiddie pool coats, bird baths and check their roof for damage?
This was the worst year ever. Why is this never enforced? But supposedly illegal!
There are fantastic city fireworks to enjoy. Guess that wasn't enough for some.
