Second show added for Godsmack, Staind frontmen at McHenry Outdoor Theater

The American Drive-In Tour with Sully Erna and Aaron Lewis comes to McHenry

Sully Erna of the rock band Godsmack and Aaron Lewis of Staind will come to the McHenry Outdoor Theater on Oct. 10 to play their hits in an acoustic performance as part of their new joint venture, The American Drive-In Tour.

Lewis is the frontman and founder of the rock band Staind, which was created in 1995 and has since sold 17 million albums worldwide, according to a news release Monday. Staind is most known for their song "It's Been Awhile," which was released in 2001 and is the most played song of its decade.

Erna is the vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and founder of the band Godsmack, which has earned four Grammy nominations since it was formed in 1995. Godsmack is known for their songs "I Stand Alone," "Voodoo" and "Unforgettable" off of their latest album "When Legends Rise."

"[Erna] and I have been friends for 25 years. We’ve been talking about doing something for the last ten years,” Lewis said in the release. “The time has finally come. I couldn’t be more excited to be bringing this to you in such strange times."

A second show time has been added for the McHenry Outdoor Theater performance due to high demand, according to a statement Wednesday. The rock duo will now perform at 6:30 p.m. in addition to the original show scheduled for 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 10.

Tickets went on sale Tuesday, Sept. 15, according to the release. For more information or to buy tickets, visit the event website at www.aaronandsully.com.

The tour will follow the local public health guidelines of each performance location, according to the release. All shows will be held in outdoor venues or amphitheaters, and social distancing will be required between cars or between pods of up to four people.

More tour dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
