High school sports roundup for Tuesday, Sept. 22

Crystal Lake South's Will Stewart carded a 35 Tuesday at Crystal Lake Country Club to lead the way for the Gators in a Fox Valley Conference win, 150-157, over Prairie Ridge.

Nate Stewart added a 37 for South, Ricky Falbo shot 38, and Bryce Sturm had a 40.

Charlie Pettrone was the match's medalist with a 33 for Prairie Ridge. Danny Saville shot 39, Joe Pokonosky shot 42, and Levi Wagner had a 43.

Crystal Lake Central 153, Jacobs 169: At RedTail in Lakewood, Bayden Hubacher shot an even-par 36 to lead the Tigers to the FVC victory.

Eric Klutke was one stroke behind with a 37, while Ethan Bass and Christian Wakeford each shot 40.

Jason Seaholm and Kyle Schutt each posted a 40 for Jacobs.

Grayslake North 180, Johnsburg 194: At Renwood in Round Lake Beach, the Skyhawks lost their nonconference dual match against North.

Cody Clauson paced Johnsburg with a 43. Mike Link shot 48, Mike Preston had a 50, and Peter Link and Nick Thill each shot 53.

Marengo 201, Harvard 211: At Abbey Springs in Fontana-on-Geneva Lake, Wisc., the Indians came away with a Kishwaukee River Conference victory.

Tyler Nelsen's 46 topped Marengo, Riley Weiss shot 49, Kyle Northcutt posted a 50, and Will Fischer shot 56.

Myles Brincks led Harvard with a 45. Andrew Dudley, Jake Chupich and Nick Thurow each shot 56.

Huntley 163, Dundee-Crown 184: At Pinecrest in Huntley, the Red Raiders earned the FVC win behind a 38 from Danny Sheedy. Josh Good was one shot behind with a 39. Evan Bendis shot 42, and Trevor Book had a 44.

Aidan Svec's 44 led D-C, Jake Russell shot 45, Chris Pryzbylak had a 47, and Jason Huber shot 48.

McHenry 158, Hampshire 182: At Randall Oaks in West Dundee, Ethan Jensen fired a 36 to pace the Warriors in their FVC win. Max Bogenski added a 39, Will Currie had a 41, and Sam Huff shot 42.

Payton Yee and Jake Laube shot 42 and 43, respectively, to lead Hampshire.

Woodstock North co-op 173, Richmond-Burton 179: At Twin Lakes (Wisconsin) Country Club, Brad Arnold and Sam Berry each shot a 42 to lead the Thunder (7-0 KRC) past the Rockets in a close dual match.

Brady Heeren shot 44 and Luke Trewyn added a 45 for North.


Harvard 195, Marengo 248: At Abbey Springs in Fontana-on-Geneva Lake, Wisc., Joelle McMillan and Emma Ackland each shot 47 to lead the Hornets to a KRC win.

Julia Chupich followed closely with a 48, and Alexis Lehmann had a 53.

Emma Leucht topped Marengo with a 55, and Mary Grace Reed shot 57.

Marian Central 175, Joliet Catholic 219: At Woodruff in Joliet, Lauren McNulty shot 37 to lead the Hurricanes to an East Suburban Catholic Conference win.

Ava Notaro followed with a 42, and Ella Notaro and Ingrid Reyes each shot 48.

Crystal Lake Central co-op 194, Hampshire 215: At RedTail in Lakewood, Renata Petersen's 37 led the way during the Tigers' FVC win.

Abby Rubsam and Ella Smith each shot 52, and Addison Cleary had a 53.

Julia Bachta led Hampshire with a 48.


Huntley 5, Crystal Lake Central 2: At Huntley, the Red Raiders took all three singles matches to secure the FVC dual win.

Ruhi Gulati (No. 1), Elaina Hibbeler (No. 2) and Alessandra Rivera (No. 3) all won in singles play. Kyle Phommasack and Michelle Barnvos won at No. 1 doubles, and Kareena Patel and Michelle Chan won at No. 3 doubles.

For Central, Olivia Johnson and Megan Rapisarda won at No. 2 doubles, as did Grace Cullian and Anika Richard at No. 4 doubles.

Cary-Grove 7, McHenry 0: At McHenry, the Trojans swept the FVC dual to move to 9-1 on the season.

Sara Greenwald (No. 1), Lexie Soltis (No. 2) and Annabella Gaffaney (No. 3) all won in singles play. In doubles, Kate Larry and Katie Jannusch (No. 1), Mary Greenwald and Chloe Sorenson (No. 2), Nicki Carpatiuc and Gwenn Moran (No. 3) and Kim Klawitter and Brooke Iverson (No. 4) were victorious.


Prairie Ridge double dual: At Veteran Acres in Crystal Lake, the host Wolves ran their FVC record to 6-1 with wins over Hampshire and Dundee-Crown.

Prairie Ridge’s Rachel Soukup, Rylee Lydon, Colette Janik, Bridget Jewell and Grace Turman took the first five spots in the meet.

Johnsburg triangular: At McHenry Township Park in Johnsburg, Amanda Allport, Jane Wisniewski and Catherine Miller finished 1-2-3 to lead Richmond-Burton to a win over Marian Central and Johnsburg.

Allport finished in 20:46.35. R-B also had Rosie Felch and Julia Hicks in fifth and sixth place.

Caroline Binotti led Marian in fourth place. Johnsburg’s Ellie Bauer and Morgan Klos were seventh and eighth.


Prairie Ridge double dual: At Veteran Acres in Crystal Lake, Prairie Ridge’s Will Gelon edged out Hampshire’s Isai Morales and Aidan Gonzalez in the final meters of a close race for the individual win.

Gelon caught Morales in the last half mile, but Morales and Gonzalez caught him with less than 50 meters to go before Gelon put on a final winning spurt.

Hampshire beat Prairie Ridge, 20-41, and defeated D-C, 18-43. D-C beat Prairie Ridge, 27-29.

Christian Azar led D-C in fourth place, while Hampshire had Damian Wegiel, Darius Nguepi and Henry Nangle in fourth, fifth and sixth.

Johnsburg triangular: At McHenry Township Park in Johnsburg, Marian Central’s Peter Walsdorf ran to victory in 16:25.77, winning by close to 2 minutes, but the host Skyhawks won the meet as a team.

Andrew Ardon was second for Johnsburg, Jackson Batt was fourth and Grady Germann was seventh as the Skyhawks finished with 33 points. Marian had 37 and Richmond-Burton had 57.

Cohen Musschoot took fourth for Marian and Anthony Carney was sixth.

Sean Rockwell was R-B’s top finisher in fifth place. Parker Sweeney was eighth.

Monday's late result


Prairie Ridge 156, Huntley 164: At Chalet Hills in Cary, Eddie Winkelmann and Levi Wagner led the Wolves with 38s in an FVC win Monday. Charlie Pettrone and Jake Friedman both added 40s for Prairie Ridge.

Huntley's Trevor Book earned medalist honors with a 37. Josh Good posted a 40, Danny Sheedy had a 42, and Cole Modrich and Evan Bendis added 45s to round out the scoring for the Raiders.
