The northbound lane of Route was closed at the Dean Street intersection in Huntley Tuesday afternoon after a semitruck veered from the road and became stuck with the vehicle's trailer blocking traffic.
Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, Deputy Chief Michael Klunk of the Huntley Police Department confirmed that the roadway had been cleared and was once again open in both directions.
Drivers traveling northbound on Route 47 were rerouted down Dean Street by Huntley police officers, a detour that only delayed drivers by a minute or so, Klunk said.
The northbound lane of Route 47 became blocked when the driver of a freightliner semitruck suddenly veered from the roadway, possibly due to a medical condition, he said.
The semitruck did not collide with any other cars, but became stuck with the cab of the truck off the road and the rest of the vehicle blocking traffic, he said. The driver, a 47-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital.
The Huntley Police Department called for a tow unit to assist officers in clearing the roadway, Klunk said.
