To the Editor:
Are there good people on both sides?
Our President thinks so. Neo-Nazis. Good people. White supremacists. Good. A 17-year-old who went to Kenosha with a long gun to murder. Good.
Dictators who destroy the human rights of their citizens. Good. The leader of North Korea who murdered his half brother and uncle because they weren’t loyal enough.
So good that our president fell in love with him. Putin, who poisons opponents. Good. Putin's loyalists who’ve betrayed their own country for a few shekels. Flynn. Stone. Good.
Embezzlers and swindlers. Manafort. Good.
Members of the Trump administration focused on dismantling the laws that keep us safe and healthy. Good.
Wilbur Ross, “the king of bankruptcy” who is drastically reducing government regulation of greenhouse gases and safety regulations, allowing companies to poison our water and the air our children breathe. Good.
Alex Azar, Health and Human Services Secretary and his assistant, Michael Caputo, with no medical or scientific background, who refute our scientists and doctors as they rewrite CDC reports based on “the president's daily whims.” Good.
DeJoy, the postmaster general who has crippled our postal system to keep us from voting, Good. William Barr, who is spending our tax dollars to defend the president’s sexual assault case. Good.
But who are the “bad” people?
You and I! Anyone who needs assistance in these difficult times. We who have paid into the Social Security plans he’s now defunding.
We with pre-existing medical conditions. Bad. The President has gone to the Supreme Court to dismantle the laws that prohibit insurance companies from denying us this coverage. We who want our children to return to school safely. Bad.
And baddest of all, the men and women of our Armed Forces, who risk their lives and sacrifice for us every day. “Suckers and losers!” Bad!
The stench from this administration is setting our country on fire. It is time for those of us who truly do love this land to join the bucket brigade and put out this spreading wildfire. Now is the time to vote. There may not be another.
