High school sports roundup for Tuesday, Oct. 13

Marengo’s Luke Chaffin held off Woodstock’s Aidan Schleutermann for first place in a Kishwaukee River Conference dual cross country meet at Indian Oaks Park on Tuesday.

Chaffin won in 16:28, four seconds ahead of Schleutermann. The two may battle it out for the individual championship at Saturday’s KRC Meet.

Woodstock won the race, 24-32, with Jack Hansen, Dylan Hanson, Alex Wickersheim and Logan Hagmann taking the fourth through seventh spots.

Marengo’s Zach Secor took third.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Woodstock 17, Marengo 41: At Marengo, Theresa Presisto, Maggie Adams and Ireland Dunnett finished 1-2-3 to lead the Blue Streaks to a KRC dual victory at Indian Oaks Park.

Marengo’s Ruby Escorza took fourth, with Woodstock’s Aby Smith and Grace Topf were fifth and sixth.

GIRLS TENNIS

Grayslake Central 6, Marian Central 1: At Grayslake, Julia Widhalm won in two sets at No. 3 singles as the Hurricanes fell to the Rams in their nonconference dual match.
