Letter: A plea to Republicans

To the Editor:

When Democrat Rod Blagojevich ran for re-election, I refused to vote for him. Why? It was clear by that time he was a narcissistic idiot.

In 2008, I exerted much energy trying to convince an Obama campaign volunteer that Sen. John McCain would make an excellent president. Unfortunately, the late, great senator selected an idiot for a running mate.

Point being: I’m not a far-left liberal who just out-of-hand dismisses Republicans or blindly supports unworthy Democrats (Yes, moderates still exist in this country). But you and I know Trump is an idiot and much, much worse. He is a fraud and a pathological liar.

It doesn’t matter that he’s temporarily affixed an “R” to his name for his own selfish purposes. He’s not a Republican. He’s a heartless nihilist who only cares about himself. If he could win as a raging liberal, he would.

At present, this man is trying to delegitimize the electoral process, the very heart of democracy. A vote for him is a vote against the norms and institutions that undergird this country. It’s a vote against democracy. I beseech you to put aside partisan politics and put your country and conscience first.
