Campaign aims to recognize McHenry County law enforcement with blue porch lights

Porch lights are set to burn blue across McHenry County starting Friday as part of an effort kicked off by McHenry residents to recognize the contributions of law enforcement locally.

The weeklong "McHenry Backs Our Blue Week” is set to run through Oct. 30, according to a news release.

"It was designed to recognize the contributions these departments make to our community and show our most sincere appreciation of their commitment to protecting our lives and property," according to the release.

To participate, pick up a blue light bulb for free at the following locations during regular business hours: Camp Bow Wow, 3107 W. Elm St. in McHenry; Clasen's Tavern, 17628 Depot St. in Union; Niko's Pointers Saloon, 106 S.
