Letter: Breast cancer can impact men too

To the Editor:

October is here and it is breast cancer awareness month. 2,750 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.

As a two-time male breast cancer thriver, I need to remind everyone and men especially, that we can get breast cancer.

It is important for men to do self breast examinations every month. If you feel a lump or something is out of place go to your doctor. Do not dismiss anything and don’t let your doctor dismiss your concerns.

I found my breast cancer early both times.

Early detection is the key to men’s survival from this disease. Men advocate for your own health and know that no embarrassment with this disease. It is a human disease not just a woman’s disease.
