To the Editor:

You would think that when a local kid does something in the sports world that very few professionals in the sport ever have done before that it would be a big thing in his hometown paper.

Especially when the sport is the most popular sport on TV. NFL football! Yep, a local kid who played at Crystal Lake South and played defense for the first time in his life at the professional level never even got mentioned.

This young man now doesn’t get a peep. I know he doesn’t play for the Bears, or that other team to the north. But in his first game that he ever played, he sacked the quarterback twice in 10 plays on the field.

He then went on to play on Monday Night Football and still nothing. No picture not a mention. Shame on you!

This young man's name is Dennis Gardeck. And he played last night in Dallas. For the winning team, the Arizona Cardinals.

And had another heck of a game. Come on Sports writers. Pay attention! He was a great kid from this area. Polite, and one heck of an athlete.
