Everyday Heroes: 2016

Celebrating the selfless efforts of McHenry County police, fire and rescue personnel

Welcome to "Everyday Heroes," a Northwest Herald project celebrating local residents who selflessly go above and beyond to make a difference in our communities. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of everyday heroes living around us.

This year, we are recognizing heroes who are police, fire and emergency rescue personnel. Everyday Heroes avoid the spotlight, but deserve our appreciation. We know they are all around us, doing what they can to make our lives better, and neighborhoods safe and secure.

In November, we asked readers to nominate heroes who make a difference as first responders. Our readers responded, and the best of the best are profiled here.
