Adopt-A-Bed This Holiday Season

SPONSORED

McHenry County PADS, a division of Pioneer Center for Human Services provides the only year-round emergency day and overnight shelter in the county open to anyone experiencing homelessness. Through these services, basic needs are met through shelter, food, transportation and linkage to resources necessary to secure housing. “The people we serve are important and their success makes our community stronger. The PADS team is passionate about our work!” said Carrie Freund, Director of Homeless Services.

The impact of community members contributing is monumental in the effort of helping people get back on their feet, all it takes is one life-altering event that wasn’t expected. It may be a job loss, death of a loved one, divorce, a family dispute or a sudden illness that may change the course of your life, McHenry County PADS steps in when it may seem there is no way out.

The Adopt-A-Bed campaign has successfully provided the gift of shelter in years past, supporting services to all walks of life that experience homelessness including youth, families, veterans and those suffering from physical or mental disabilities and/or substance abuse. This holiday season, we share with you the opportunity to provide a fellow community member that is in crisis a path towards self-sufficiency.

The PADS emergency shelter on Kishwaukee Valley Road in Woodstock has 34 beds available for those looking for a temporary home, safety and hope. For $2,500 a year or a little more than just $6 a day, you can adopt a bed for someone in our county experiencing homelessness. The holiday season helps us reflect on ways to give good fortune from one’s life to another, like the gift of shelter.

If you would like to make an impact this holiday season through the Adopt-A-Bed campaign, contact Barb Swanson at 815.759.7128 or at bswanson@pioneercenter.org today.

Pioneer Center not only provides behavioral health services to the community, it also provides a wide array of homeless services and developmental disability services. Learn about one of its newest developmental disability services, the Me Program, by watching the video below.
