Raue Center for the Arts hosted a very successful Sage Studio in-house (virtual) education program during the first fall session, and is gearing up for session two! These classes, offered for children ages 7-18, offer students the chance to explore their passions and build their skills, all from the comfort of their home. Classes in acting, musical theatre, and theatre production begin the week of October 26th; many classes offer multiple options to fit any schedule. Registration closes October 16th at 5:00 p.m., so sign up now to secure your spot!
"All That Jazz" dives into the world of musical theatre jazz, one of the most commonly used styles in theatre. "Monologues for Kids" focuses on solo speeches and monologues, memorization tips, characterization, and projection. "Scene Study" will help students create short scenes, monologues, and stories about fall fun. Students will brainstorm and critique scenes, plan costumes and virtual backdrops, and play with sound effects.
"Modern Musical Theatre Voice: Disney on Broadway" allows students to expand their vocal capability and build their repertoire. This program culminates in an online Zoom presentation for friends and family!
“ One thing I've always been sure of is the power of art to find a way to enrich our lives," said Amanda Flahive, Education Manager for Raue Center. "Our Sage team worked hard this summer to develop a slate of exciting, learning-focused virtual classes. Our students discovered that theatre magic doesn't need a stage - all it needs is our collective talent, imagination and heart! This fall we'll continue to push the boundaries of virtual performance with classes that will help students expand their creativity and critical thinking skills, get them moving, and allow them to collaborate with working theatre professionals to hone their skills, all from home!”
