Raue Center for the Arts adapts, provides guidance and renews commitment to community

Although McHenry County's beloved Raue Center for the Arts must close temporarily, along with many other arts organizations and local businesses, that doesn't mean amazing performances aren't being planned for future dates. While this short-term setback is difficult for the community, the artists, and the employees of this wonderful organization, there are ways that you can help.

"We're hoping that our supporters will look towards the future and purchase tickets for events later in our schedule," said Miriam Naponelli, Marketing Director for Raue Center. "We'll bring back Amy Grant as soon as we can, because so many people were looking forward to her performance. And we have additional renowned performances slated for later in 2020 that the community will be very excited about."

On November 7, 2020, Colin Mochrie (of Whose Line Is It, Anyway?) presents HYPROV: Improv under Hypnosis, featuring Master Hypnotist Asad Mecci. "This totally unique comedy experience highlights two masters combining their respective crafts," explained Naponelli. "Twenty volunteers will be hypnotized on stage, and the best five will do improv scenes with Colin Mochrie while they're still under hypnosis. It'll be an amazing show!"

On December 11, 2020, the Elgin Symphony Orchestra will present their Holiday Pops Concert, which offers a wonderful and relaxing way to enjoy the holidays. From start to finish, the ESO brings world-class entertainment to Raue Center, allowing audiences to avoid the hassle of traveling to the big city.

"Our theater has survived depressions, World Wars, and heartbreak caused by terrorist attacks," said Richard Kuranda, Executive Director of Raue Center. "We will survive this. Over the past 85 years, our community has come together to reinforce our American values of freedom, hope, and caring for your neighbor; it's about hope for the future. We'll continue to carry on during these difficult times with great care. We hope you'll join us with our vision of the future. Arts are needed now more than ever before!"
